~ Vintage Holiday decorations... NOMA Christmas music box..

Here is a great odd thing from the vintage Christmas collection.  It is a light up music player. That street light actually lights up. Yes, the player still works. This was made by Noma.  It plays Silent Night and is marked Gueissaz Switzerland.

You can see the player is built into the door...

...Behind the carolers...

The green bottle brush tree's were flocked at one point. I have tried to wipe them down. I am curious if there is a way to spray paint them. There is a nice green wreath on the door still. Yet very fragile. It just looks like it wants to blow away. So I make a point to not touch it. :)

On the bottom of this lovely holiday music box/scene is dated 1949. My Mother has had this in her collection for a long time. And it was always displayed on a particular table in the front entry hall of their home during the holidays.

But with the thinning of her Christmas collection this year... it now resides with me!

To help place the vintage brand name NOMA.... I always think immediately of their traditional bubble lights.

NOMA made Christmas decorations for years. I normally run across their stuff at estate sales. They were made to last and these bulbs most likely still work. The one in my music box does.

Be sure to check out all the fun finds...

Well that is just fabulous! All the more special since it was your mothers. Wow, I'm amazed by the fact that it still works, and by it's wonderful condition. I would be afraid to paint the trees. Hope some crafty savvy blogger stops in to help.

Neat. I have never seen a music box like that.

Don't see too many of the fancy bulbs around here. Usually just the Jewelbrites and shiny brights. Could be other buyers are beating me to them.

I suspect there was a local chain store here, that stocked that NOMA brand. I have seen tons of their stuff through the years. And it really is quality stuff. Lots of cute stuff.

My Grandmother had used those bubble lights, on her tree she kept in the den. I was always fascinated by them as a kid. They were old even then. :)

My Grandmother would put up two full sized tree's every year.

One in the big front living room window. So it could be saw from the street. Or when you enter the home. It was the very adult looking decorated tree.

It was that tree in the back den, that she put all the crazy stuff on. Or use her aluminum tree with the turquoise balls. It was meant for the kids. Bright shiny and fun...

Bubble lights are my favorite type of Christmas lights.
Love yours and the box.

I have my Grandmother's that looks just like that. It is not in good condition. It was not taken care. But it is a wonderful memory for me, as I always remember it on display at her house when I was a child during Christmas.
