Just a little bit of red plaid goodness from my laundry room. Which is were I keep this vintage picnic basket stored. It was a random purchase at a sale one day. Simply because it was a dollar.
These red plaid beauties were made by Redmon of Peru, Indiana. And I have seen oodles of these baskets over the years. And still see them every Summer when I visit the local flea markets. They are not hard to find. Redmon must have made a million of them during the 1950's. And most of them have survived.
And for being 60 years old.... it is in decent shape. The red elastic is still springy and would be able to hold flatware without it falling loose. And the aluminum handles are in great shape. With minor paint loss.
I have stored odd ball things in it over the years. But it really became the place I keep my handy man things in. Like my duct tape, hammer, wire, small hand tools and nails.... the odd things you need on hand to make a quick repair. Or hang a picture.
I normally have a towel laying in the bottom, with my handyman things laying on top of it. I never wanted to damage the actual holder. But it did turn into a good place to stash my tools. So when I am not sure what all I will need for a repair. I just grab it and go.
Be sure to look at all the wonderful things this week at....
